IOS17 / Sonoma Photos - face recognition performs worse than before

Using Photos on a library with 85.000 photos and before upgrading to IOS17 on iPhone and Sonoma on Mac the face recognition was actually quite ok - but after upgrading my person albums has a lot of wrong persons especially in soccer matches with my son where a lot of his teammates are being identified as him. The same pictures has been processed before - so it seems to me like the accuracy is worse than befoen upgrading.

Anyone else experiencing this? And is there a potential fix for this? I hope that I do not have to reindex all my pictures and start identifying persons all over again :-(

I agree, whatever they upgraded to in the new OS seems to have downgraded the technology. I have 180K photos in my Library with 507 recognized faces. It's been an unnecessary hassle trying to undo everything Sonoma has messed up in my matches. Oddly enough, the facial recognition on iOS 17 still works great for me, it's just Sonoma on Mac... :/
