Even though the last printer driver update is from 2021, I never had any problems. So far. After updating to macOS 14, the printer doesn't work any longer. The document appears very briefly in the printer queue (Print Centre) and vanishes again. The printer stays silent and doesn't print!
First, you should try removing the printer from your printer Printers & Scanners section of System Settings, and then reenter it. If that fails to work, you will need to download and install a Ricoh printer driver that specifically works with your installed operating system. Please keep in mind that whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant printer software must be installed. What you can do is to thoroughly check the printer web site for an updated driver that works. If one is not available, then you should ask when one will be released. If that doesn't work, if the Printer has the Air Print feature, that can be used and no driver will be needed. If not, then you can check the respected web site below where volunteers write free drivers for older printers which are no longer supported, but which work with newer operating systems. It is worth checking out. Good luck.
This printer works fine with other computers. Incompatibility is only with latest MacOS Sonoma
I also messaged RICOH support asking if and when a new driver would be released that was over 10 days ago, still no response. I fi recall it took then ages to release new drives after the Mojave roll out :( In the meantime I have to fire up my Windows laptop for printing
German Customer Support told me it could take some time, because macOS isn‘t a broadly used system.
I guess they‘re working on it, but it‘s no priority. All the other hacks didn‘t work for me, so I‘m using an older MacBook with Ventura… Guess, we have to wait and see. Sorry :/
And yes - it is legal, if they don‘t provide an update. The printer is kind of old, and you don‘t have to offer updates forever (even in the EU).
You need to do exactly the same as indicated in the instructions in the best reply. In /etc/cups/ppd/RICOH_SP_150.ppd you only need to remove the .app. Do it via BBEdit. Not built-in textedit or pages. And then, through the properties of the file /usr/libexec/cups/filter/RICOH_SP_150Filter.app, delete the .app. Don’t just rename it, but through the file properties!
I have same issue. This seems to be a codesign like issue as cups reports a signal 9 received by the filter...

Did you even read the thread? We‘re all having Sonoma installed, which is NOT listed on their Website.
just found this thread, i am having the same issue, unfortunately.
SP150 doe not print in Sonoma but works find in Windows 10, i wish Ricoh would offer a Quick fix for this.

Both of my family Macs run Sonoma and neither can print with our RICOH SP 150SUw. Nothing happens except for shor term queue pop-up.
I'd be grateful for any solution to enable printing from home office back for me...
I'm sorry, I read the original posting above which says "After updating to macOS 14, the printer doesn't work any longer." I assumed that was the OS having the issue since it was the one mentioned. If you are having a problem with Sonoma, I suggest that you post your own thread since that is a different issue.

Thanks for your reply, but I've already checked on the site but they haven't updated the driver for the latest version of Mac OS Sonoma. I was wondering if the other people on the topic had received a reply from the manufacturer Ricoh to find out when the driver upgrade to Sonoma was going to take place.
Thanks for the link, it's perfect! I filled in and sent a form with my company name! I hope to have an answer soon. I think we'll have to wait at least 6 months from the date of Apple's update to hope to see the driver change on Ricoh.

Hi! It's great you've found away however when I follow the steps and reboot then try to print the following message is reflected in the queue: "Software for the printer is missing. Contact the manufacturer blah blah blah"
What am I missing here? For the second step there was nothing to rename, the file was without ".app" rightaway

Thank you for your post, this sounds very promising. So you have found the solution to the printer problem with Sonoma. But unfortunately I don't know how to change the code of the driver app. Can you please please upload your modified driver to Ricoh Printer Drivers v3.0.1 for macOS or to dropbox, so we can all use it?

Actually, I didn't modify the drivers to make them work.
Procedure is to use regular install procedure with later Ricoh SP150 drivers. Once printer is properly configured (but still not working), you should go with the 2 steps I described.

it worked for me, thanks! I did not use the terminal but copied the file to desktop, made the change, then replace.
others might find Finder>go>go to folder and, right click on the file->get info to change the extension useful.
