My iPhone X won’t update to iOS 17. What do I do?

iPhone X is not capable of running iOS 17. But there will be no issue moving the data from an iPhone running a lower iOS version to an iPhone running a higher level iOS. The difficulty would be if you updated your old iPhone to a higher iOS version than the new phone ran. That's not going to be your issue.

An iPhone X cannot update past iOS 16.

The iPhone X is maxed out at iOS 16. You will not be able to update it to iOS 17. The only solution for you is to get a newer phone if you want iOS 17.
