I have plenty of space, why won’t my iPhone back up to iCloud

My iPhone 12 phone storage is 1.5GB and I’m trying to back up to iCloud. Why won’t my iPhone backup? I have 5GB of space available in iCloud.

iCloud does not back up everything. See here: What does iCloud Back Up? - Apple Support

Choose which Apps Using iCloud Backup:

Be certain you have certain apps selected to be allowed to back up to iCloud.

Go Here: Manage your iCloud Storage - Apple Support
Scroll to: Choose which apps to back up on your iPhone or iPad
Proceed from there as necessary.
