Sonoma - login resolution problem

Hi at all the Community

I have a problem that I cannot solve when I restart my Mac (Sonoma - 14.0 installed)

If I select the "default" resolution (LG ULTRAFINE 5K 27" DISPLAY) the login mask appears in a rectangle of my monitor:

If I choose another resolution the login mask appears regularly full screen.

The problem however only affects the login mask, once logged in

resolution and other functionality are OK

I have tried doing a reinstallation (without formatting the disk), but nothing has changed

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Default resolution setting:

Mac mini (2018)

hi tbirdvet

I completely uninstalled the calibration app, but nothing changed

I did also the test that Luis Sequeira1 recommended (start in SafeMode): the login mask appears correct, but

the resolutions recognized in 'safe mode' are different from those in 'normal mode' (I have attached the two screen shots)

I also tested Thunderbolt cable and monitor with another Mac and there is no problem.

Honestly I also tried to do an installation on a clean external hd and nothing changes !

I really don't understand, it's ok I'll keep the resolution set to 2880 x 1620, but I would like to know what do you think might be causing this and if there is a possible solution (e.g. can i somehow reload the 'drivers/parameters' of my monitor ?)

thanks

start in Safe Mode - resolution

Normal Mode - resolution

Hi tbirdvet,

none antivirus, I have only SpderXLite (software for monitor calibration), but I think that Mac load it after login

if it would be helpful, for advice on what to do:

1. if another resolution (lower or higher than the default e.g.: 2048 x 1152) does not present any problem

2. as soon as I upgraded to Sonoma everything worked normally then I started with this strange problem

thanks

is there any way in your opinion to reload the monitor drivers or do some kind of reset, without having to do a reinstall OS by zero ?

thanks you for any suggestions you may give me

If I understand correctly, things are working (ie the screen appears normal) in Safe Mode.

Is this correct?

Then it means that something that loads when you boot normally is causing the problem.

It also explains why reinstalling does not fix anything (which is no surprise, anyway *).

The problem software is almost certainly some third party system modification, not part of Sonoma itself.

Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

*Reinstalling does not erase your account and does not delete any daemons or agents installed by third party software. The core system is read-only, anyway, so it is not easily modifiable while running, nor by installing software. So reinstalling the OS will usually end up in the same place where it began.
