You say it was dead - can you explain this please. 'Dead' would mean unusable. Do you mean it had no charge?

And you say it won't turn on - is it showing a full charge (green light on the cable) If not, try starting it whilst connected to power.

Does it sound the Apple chord?

Have you tried a startup in recovery mode?
