MacOS Sonoma BROKE a Ventura function for Screen Saver Drift using the Desktop image

FWIW, Diane was correct. The Desktop setting only works with the Apple supplied wallpapers.

I am here simply to report the same issue. My screen saver was working fine prior to updating to Sonoma but since, it's a complete black screen unless I am using preset hues or using preset wallpapers. And I would further add that using preset wallpapers, the colors reproduced in drift do not seem as accurate as they were, or as they are with preset hues.

Hey Diane101, thanks for taking the time. Glad you got it working. Unfortunately, it hasn't been the case on my end. Regardless of how many reboots and what step I do in whichever order, it simply doesn't bring back the feature that captures the colors from my background.

And to be exact, the "drift" effect is still present on "Desktop" mode, though it is extremely extremely faint and difficult to see. The threads are this super dark red and hardly can be perceived at all.

Hopefully, it'll be fixed soon.

Restarting will often fix anomalies.

I’m on a M2 Max from a Mac Studio 2023. It’s not even 2 weeks old mind you so maybe it’s got to do with not having files from a previous versions of MacOS that weren’t included in an update package or w/e.

Thankfully, I noticed the Blue Hues option has colors similar enough to my background so it’ll do until they fix it.

Just to add, just checked my M1 MacBook Air and the Desktop setting for Drift works. Maybe it's an Intel vs Apple silicon issue.
