Siri and Search Not Working after iOS 17 iPadOS 17
Device details:
- iPhone 13 Pro w/ iOS 17.0.3
- iPad Pro 11 Inch w/ iPadOS 17.0.3
Problem:
- After updating my devices above, Siri and Search functions are unresponsive and continue to time out
- For Hey Siri, Siri or Side Button activation of Siri on both devices
- Siri icon will come up, but begin to oscillate (I believe attempting to contact the server to understand the request)
- After a few seconds, it will time out and display "Sorry, something went wrong, please try again"
- Siri-related search functions such as search suggestions in Maps are also inoperable
- Typing on the search bar in Maps does not yield any results (while typing) until I hit "Search"
- Similar behavior on Contacts app, likely others, but I have not explored further
- Disabling "Learn from this app" under the app's "Siri and Search" settings, fixes the search functionality
Things I have already tried (multiple times):
- Turn Siri off then on again via disabling "Listen for" and "Side button" options, then re-enabling to re-set up Siri
- Hard reset phone (Up volume, down volume and hold power button)
- Sign out of iCloud on both devices, reset device, and sign back in
- Full restore (using MacBook) of both devices from clean install (not from backup)
Things that seems to work temporarily:
- Siri and Search appear to work fine for the first 5-10 minutes after a normal device restart, then both Siri's response speed and the search suggestions (in Maps for example) get incrementally slower, until they stop working completely
- Restoring the device from a clean install (not from backup) and NOT signing into AppleID during initial setup appears to work. Once I sign into iCloud/AppleID on the newly set up device, Siri and Search work fine for about 12 hours, then it breaks again.
- Changing Siri language to something like English UK works the same as a phone restart--things work fine for about 5-10 minutes then break again.
Other notes:
- My wife has same phone and upgraded same time, no issues with her phone. She does not have an iPad.
- This seems to not be hardware related as it affects multiple devices
- I have no VPN installed
- This appears to be a Siri-server issue along with my apple ID / iCloud account.
Any suggestions, workarounds or solutions would be greatly appreciated!
