Mic stops working during zoom use

After using Zoom for an hour my mic cut out. I removed the zoom app and reinstalled. I have looked at the built-in iMac Microphone settings-sound-input levels. The input level bar seems to flutter without reason. When I test the mic levels on the zoom app the mic recording sounds garbled. I have yet to buy an external mic. That is my next step if unable to solve this issue.

Mic in my MBP on El Capitan does not work I am running a Mac Mini (early 2009) on El Capitan. In trying to connect to Zoom I found that the Mic does not work. I opened Preferences, Sound and Input and verified that the mic is not working. I also went to Preferences, opened Security & Privacy, and found that the mic is not shown in the left pane. Will apprecite your insights to solve this problem

iMac microphone poor quality The recording quality on my iMac microphone has suddenly become muffled. There is no visible obstruction of the microphone holes and I have not made recent changes to software or settings. The problem occurs across all apps.

I just wonder if you Give Zoom a permission to use internal Mic.

Yes, under privacy and settings the application has access to the mic
