Lost iMail app usage

I goofed trying to port my email to another computer using the drag/drop procedure to a USB Drive. It removed iMail from my dock and put it down in the 'active app' area. I moved it back to the dock but now it no longer works and all attempts to open it get the stopid "gmail logon" to connect to the accounts. It also somehow killed ALL my logins as I am unable to get the webmail to open either.

There is an active question about the merge capability that noone is answering is the only reason this was even attempted.

Anyone have any idea?

First restart and retest.

If that fails, open Finder and look for mail.app in the Applications folder. Double click on it; it should run. If it does, drag it to your Dock if you wish.

If you don't find mail.app, you've likely damaged your OS (mail is an integral part of the OS and not removable) and you'll need to reinstall the OS.

A little easier than what? A problem resolution is a problem resolution regardless of "easiness". How hard or easy it is, is solely dependent on your skills and expertise.

Your email provider is not going to be able to solve problems that are local and don't involve them. If you are using "corrupt" passwords, that still is a local issue. If that's all this is about, change the passwords per the provider's specifications.

Mac Mail is little more than a portal to a web service that allows local control. You, the user, are in total control of that process.

I was hoping for something a little easier but gues will just have to 'grin and bearit'. I have done the first one numersous times as I totally shut down every night.

As to running from the Apps folder, that is what I was doing in the first place since I discarded the original that went into the active list because of the same identical problem happening with it and posted a new copy from the Apps Folder.

Guess that will also mean I have to contact my providers to straighten out the mess that this has also caused since something has caused all three of my addresses to have corrupted passwords.

Tks

Guess that was no good as well. For some reason there were problem with apple accepting my request for several days then yesterday finally got everything to function properly but problem still remains.

  1. click on mail icon
  2. immediately the notification about logging in to Gmail comes up but it will not accept my VALID ID or Password.
  3. for grins I tried a new machine that has not been fully set up for email and get the exact same reaction AND IT DOES NOT HAVE A GMAIL ACCOUNT REGISTERED.
  4. Then to top it all off today, I cannot even log in to communities on Monterey machine (my primary email only machine). It gets through the process properly including entering the verification code (via phone) and IMMEDIATELY goes to notification "Account time out".

Guess I will have to LOSE ALL MY SAVED EMAILS just to get the machine to act properly by reformatting the disk and restoring Monterey for a full new installation. My TimeMachine Backup HD died a couple of days ago so there is absolutely nothing to use for local restore.

Is there anything else that will help?

Finally on the Monterey machine again and was able to post three other problem I am having but just resolved one of them.

I have been able to use webmail and sign into all my accounts which I call using the 'back door' to get to the front room through the kitchen.

iMail still unusable as it only comes up to the gmail account but will not acceept either the account or password that I used through webmail. I am assuming, I hope, this is an incompatibility between apple and google as that seems to be the indication of ability to use browser and log in without problems.
