Problems with "screen recording" function in Quicktime

How can you stop a screen recording in Quicktime without using the "Control-Command-Esc." shortcut? Why is there no actual menu option in Quicktime to end a screen recording?

whenever you start a screen recording, a "stop button" will appear on your menubar.

click it and your recording will stop.
