Sonoma breaks hardware attached USB sound input / output devices

Prior to ugrading to Sonoma, my Mac was running Ventura. Attached to the Mac mini was a Focusrite iTrack Solo via USB. This was used for sound input and output as may DAW for recording. This is now broken and the USB iTrack Solo cannot be seen under the USB settings in System Information.

Anyone else have a similar problem? Anyone else know of a fix to this.

Apart from the software update, nothing else has changed, so can only point the finger at Sonoma...

This is frustrating and surprised that it should have happened, when software updates should be beta tested...

I have checked with Focusrite and they have had similar complaints. Bearing mind Focusrite is a pretty big brand, widely used by a lot of folks who run a DAW, I'd be surprised if it hadn't been tested.

The iTrack Solo does not require any driver installation before plugging into a Mac. It jut works, but obviously comes with software an plugins for other Audio software.

Focusrite are investigating, but it is more than likely to be an Apple fix...

FWIW, Focusrite were surprised it stopped working as it IS meant to be compatible! Pretty sure it would be in Apple's interest not to pi55 off a whole community of people who use MAC OS for their DAWs as a preference over Windows say, only to break them. Due diligence on both sides is key and Beta testing didn't pick this up?

So do you use a Mac on Sonoma? Any issues?

Looking at some of the threads online, there's a whole host of things that Sonoma broke. AFS, DFS, SMB issues posted on MacRumours. Pretty important ones.

Guess, I'll back this out and stay with Ventura...

I use Sonoma on the only two Macs I have that are compatible. If they were all compatible I would be running it on all of them. The only issue that affects me is, Apple may have dropped greyscale image support in Preview. I can work around that.

Can you elaborate on that last point? Dropped greyscale how?

I can open an image in Preview, and in Tools->Adjust Color I can turn Saturation all the way down, producing a greyscale image with no problem.
