My iPhone 12's alarm won't play any songs!

No matter what I do, the alarm will only play the default alarm sound. No music at all! Even if downloaded and when I select it it will play in the menu. But won’t play when the alarm sounds. I rebooted the phone, and still won’t play it! I tried creating new alarms, or deleting the song and re-downloading it… nothing fixes it.

There are many of these questions on apple forums and none have an answer that works!

Okay, so I figured it out, and simply deleting and downloading won’t help. First you have to go to “Music” in the “Settings” app. Once there scroll down to the “Audio” and “Downloads” sections. In the “Audio” section in the Music setting you can leave “Dolby Atmos” on or off, but in “Audio Quality” if you prefer “Lossless Audio” on, then make sure that “Downloads” is set to “High Quality”. Second, in the “Downloads” section in the Music setting, make sure “Download in Dolby Atmos” is set off. After all this is done, the songs you love should play and help wake you from your slumber. Hope this helps. ✌️

I found a solution!

https://www.tuneskit.com/ios-repair/iphone-alarm-not-playing-song.html

Issue is with alarm not able to play a song downloaded as Dolby Atmos/Lossless.

Turning off Dolby Atmos and redownloading the song worked.

Thank you to Brian Davis for the solution.

I have the song Centuries by Fallout Boy set as my alarm sound, but it doesn’t play the song it plays the default alarm sound. We tried it on my husbands iPhone and it worked just fine. We have the same exact iPhone (15 pro max), but for some reason mine isn’t working. I tried a different song and it worked, but this specific one won’t work. Yes, I have it downloaded, and yes I deleted the song and redownloaded it. I don’t have lossless turned on nothing works still.

I got a way around on this one. Instead of using alarm, I created a shortcut automation where in a time of day, play this specific music. You can even specify which days this automation will apply. It even plays the entire song.

the only cons with this method is theres no snooze button.

Hello SmacksWallWithFace,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. You've done a great job in troubleshooting this unexpected behavior. Restarting your device, recreating alarms and redownloading your music were all great steps to attempt. If you have any pending updates, it would be a good idea to install them on your iPhone.

This can usually help with unique issues, since updates include fixes. Just in case, this link can guide you through the update process: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

1.)Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2.)Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3.)Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4.) If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5.) Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do: If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support
