I need guidance on how I can use my Apple Watch after the iOS 10.1.1 update

Updated my Apple watch to 10.01 and hate it. I used to be able swipe up on my watch to see modes such as Do Not Disturb, Find My Phone, Battery Life %, Movie etc. Now I see Time, Tips, weather, etc. To see my old screen with those modes, you have to push the side emergency button. That is stupid. Can it be changed back? How do I get rid of the messages, tip and activity when I swipe up? In addition, I could swipe sideways to change the face of my watch and now I can't. I wish Apple had tutorials of all the updates they plan to roll out so users could look to see what it will be before they decide to update, unless it was for bug fixes. I give Apple and F- on this update.

I hate the new update! I don’t like that you have to scroll through all the apps alphabetically now rather than having the ones you use most frequently be shown first. The weather app is very light and difficult to read- unnecessarily complicated.

I also hate the update. I frequently check the battery life and utilize the focus (especially when half asleep). I rarely click into an app. I do all of that on my phone. If I do instantly need an app, it’s a widget on my watch face. Apple should’ve replaced the side button with the stacking widgets. Or even the rotary button. I have my Apple products set on automatic updates because I’ve trusted their vision. But this isn’t getting used to an improvement. It’s actually taking a step backwards or 20. Might benefit those that have cellular data watches. But that’s not me. Luckily, I still have a first edition watch that will no longer take updates. I wear it more now. I almost updated it this holiday because I wanted more options with focus like my Apple Watch Series 5. I’m so glad I didn’t. It would’ve ****** me off. I’d rather have Do Not Disturb only that I can swipe than all focus options that require clicking the side button. What a waste. And I will not buy another if stacking stays as a swipe. I'm all for innovation but sometimes “don’t fix it if it ain’t broken.”

If enough users send feedback, then it is more likely a decision maker will see it.

Really dislike the new software update. I can’t even find theater mode which was a single swipe,

You access the Control Center by tapping the side button, the flat, oval button next to the Digital Crown.

Quickly checking activity and exercise minutes is unhandy and the visuals are annoying. Changing watch faces which I do several times throughout the day is unnecessarily cumbersome. Even quickly checking heart rate is bewildering. Further using the timer was handier a few iterations ago when I didn’t have to scroll through recently used times. Give me back the presets, and if i add something that is not in the presets, go ahead and let me scroll through that, but don’t double up my history of use of presets with factory presets. I will not enumerate all grievances with this update as others have already done a nice job of it.

This latest update is appalling, has made the watch less usable, and is typical of change for change's sake and fixing something that isn't broken. It is truly awful and I wish I had never installed it.

Apple is addicted to continual software change and an ever-accelerating schedule of unwanted major updates, changing the User Interfaces in ways that alienate users. Excellent hardware being let down by inconsistent, ever-changing software. WatchOS UI was fine the way it was.

Apple should learn to leave UIs alone. Change is not always a good thing.

Why are you telling us, your fellow users? No one here can make any of the changes you want. You can, however, let Apple know your thoughts here:

update 10.1.1 is the worst update ever. It would be nice to understand why the control center does not swipe up. after reading from another user that the side button now controls this function when I pressed it first I got the emergency call option. After trying it a second time, the control center came up. Whoever came up with these changes made life more complicated. The swipe up info is less useful. Trying to mimic the iphone widget page was not helpful for swiping up as much as having ready access to the control center. It would be nice if Apple makes sweeping changes why not send a notice with instructions of how to operate a device after the update.

Quick Press and Release to get Control Center (used to be favorites)

Quick Double Press and Release to get Apple Pay and Apple Wallet (this has been there for years)

Press and Hold for 5-6 seconds brings up Emergency Services display (also been there for years).

I’m with you, I hate it too!! Please let me know how to revert to the last version. Before I was able to swipe and had 4 sets of 24 pics each, now I only see one set. I can’t swipe up and see how much juice I have left on my watch, plus the sound/bell button, theater mode is gone, etc etc.

There is no going back to the previous version.

The more users that send feedback, the more likely it will reach a decision maker.

Why would you have updates that made the Apple Watch less user friendly!! I’m very disappointed that it that’s several steps to find my phone!!! Who thought this was a good idea? UGH!!!

The more users that send in feedback, the more likely a decision make at apple will see it, and maybe take action on it.

But nothing will happen unless everyone send feedback. Telling your fellow users doesn't get to Apple.

Extremely disappointed and frustrated with the new OS update. I know sometimes it will take time to get use to but in this case still not enjoying the dramatic unnecessary changes that seem to be less efficient.

Unfortunately after the latest apple watch update I have been using my watch less and less. I dont find the new watchOS update very efficient or the ease of use isn't there anymore. I now mostly use my watch to listen to music while on a jog. Before the update I used my watch constantly. I would change faces probably 6 to 7 times a day with the ease of a swipe, as well as turning on and off airplane mode and checking battery life with the ease of a swipe.

I was going to upgrade my Apple Watch to a newer model in the New Year but have no desire to now and I have turned off my auto updates. I wish Apple would allow users to revert back to the previous update if desired. A watch that I really loved wearing is now just a digital watch for me.

I agree with the responder here who suggested Apple provide a crosswalk between/among updates. I liked (AKA interacted well with) the configuration I had prior to this most recent update.

What I miss the most (so far) is the ability to swipe up to see the apps I use most. Specifically, I use the timer several times a day. Now, even if the timer is the last app I used, when I go back into the app the list again starts with A. So I have to scroll to timer every time. What a waste! Couldn’t there have been a bit more room for personalization of the Control Center?

Add a timer widget to the Smart Stack. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Press and hold at the top, near the date. Tap the "+". Scroll down to Timers. One of then widgets is "Set Time". Add that. If you also remove any widgets you won't need, your list will probably be fairly short and your timer will be readily accessible.

You can also add the timer as a complication to your watch face.

Or, you can do what I do and just say, "Siri, set a timer for 10 minutes".
