iPhone4 Sync to Outlook 2010 not working

Anyone else having problems sync'ing the iPhone4 to Outlook 2010 Contacts? Worked fine with the 3GS, somehow it refuses to work with the iPhone4, none transfered.

Tried http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1692 to no avail.

Getting desperate now. I have zilch in my Address book, and would rather not export Outlook contacts into Apple Address Book to sync etc...

Macbook Pro 15", Mac OS X (10.6.4)

If you installed the 64-bit version of Office 2010 you might be out of luck as I don't believe it's compatible. You would have to uninstall the 64-bit version of Office and install the 32-bit version....just a thought, not sure which version you have.

However, since it worked with you 3GS--it's strange. Were you syncing to Outlook 2010 with your 3GS or 2007?

Thanks for your response. I'm actually running the 32bit version of Office 2010. Can't quite figure out what the problem is.

But when I look at iTunes version 9.2.1.5 (latest), it apparently only sees "Outlook Express" and not Outlook 2010 itself in the "Info tab, Sync Mail Accounts from" setting. Just wondering if it's somehow pulling a black Contact database from a non-existent Outlook Express.

As per http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1692 , I removed and re-installed every Apple element on my Windows XP machine and rebooted. Still doesn't solve the issue. I'm guessing this is a bug in compatibility between Outlook 2010, the current iTunes, and the iPhone4...

Failing any other advise, I'm going to have to migrate every Outlook 2010 Contact into a vcard onto Apple Address book in order to get it back on the phone!! Very frustrating.

Thanks for your responses anyway.

I had big problems getting my 3G to sync with Outlook back when I first got it in Sept/Oct. 2008. I think my biggest problem was with the calendar, not contacts.

In any case, that was a big part of the reason why I migrated to Google and away from Outlook.

I would recommend setting up a Gmail account if you don't already have one, import your contacts from Outlook, and then set up your google account on your iPhone as an Exchange account - this way your contacts and calendar will stay synced with your google account wirelessly and for free. You can also download a little app from Google that will sync your Outlook calendar with your Google calendar.

That's what I'd suggest...

So, it took me a couple of days of not thinking about the problem for the lightbulb to finally go on!! The issue is not a bug at all.

My Outlook 2010 PC client is configured for "Cached mode", and all Contact information was actually on the Exchange server rather than on my local machine. Plus my iPhone4 Exchange email setting had "Contacts" sync set to Off.

In other words, the iPhone was sync'ing to non-existant local Contact database, and it was not sync'ing to the Exchange server Contact information over the air either.

So, I just turned on Contact sync'ing in the iPhone4's Exchange email setting... Tada! Contacts re-appeared, like magic!

Apologies for the false alarm, hope no one else goes through the same mistake.
