Apple Music downsamples my own music

I have an iPad mini 6 playing via a usb to coax digital converter and then into a dsp in my car

so if I stream a hi res lossless file at 96khz from Apple Music the dsp reports the sample rate at 96khz

if I play back my own 96khz files imported to the iPad via files in Flacbox (app) I can then get 96khz reported in the dsp

if I add the 96khz files to Apple Music they are reported as 96khz in the app on my pc… if my iPad then syncs to the iPad and the files appear they are played at 44.1khz… why is it so hard for me to playback 96khz files at their native sample rate??

Apple app is set to hi res lossless for all playback via any method and the files are downloaded to the iPad as are all playlists, albums etc in iTunes and sync happens flawlessly… it just seems to resample my own files that I uploadtp iTunes when they are sync’d

Hello Dumdumspl,

Let's use the steps below to make sure that your iPad mini is up to date:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If your iPad is all up to date, let's restart: Restart your iPad - Apple Support

1. Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

Updating and restarting can sometimes help address odd behaviors.

Should that still persist, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support: Apple Support They'll be in the best position to look into this further.

Take care.
