M1 MacBook Air throttled disk write speed

Hello,

Ever since I installed the new macOS Sonoma for my M1 MacBook Air, the write speeds on the main disk have been throttled. I am experiencing lag in real-time software, like games. Any solution to fix this?

Thanks

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.0

If all the open space you have is 30GB that is likely the problem. The OS needs 15-20% totally unused space to operate properly. That's totally unused at all time.

If you have a 512GB drive, 75gb to 100GB ALWAYS unused. For a 256GB ... half that and so on.

Download Black Magic speed test from the AppStore and test your actual read and write speeds. It's a waste of time to guess at disk operation.

It may be your apps are just not fully compatible with Sonoma. Have you checked the developer's website for Sonoma compatible versions?

Have you done any troubleshooting on your own? If so, what? It's always best not to reinvent the wheel and start 20 questions to determine what has not worked already.
