iphone pro max upgrade to iOS 17.0.3 Facetime

An upgrade to iOS 17.0.3 from iOS 16.6.1

has caused FaceTime to no longer wok on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Have checked camera settings and FaceTime settings and ScreenTime settings adjusted to my old settings but nothing makes FaceTime Work.

So either I get 17.0.3 to work or I need to go back to iOS 16,6.1 and how do I ho back to 16.6.1?

Hello hughnearspeedoflight,

For difficulties with FaceTime, you'll want to take the additional steps below:

1. Make sure that your device has a Wi-Fi connection to the internet or a cellular-data connection.
• Learn more if you're using router, firewall, or security software that restricts internet access.
2. If you're trying to use FaceTime over cellular, make sure that Use Cellular Data is on for FaceTime. Go to Settings and tap Cellular or tap Mobile Data, then turn on FaceTime. If you're using an iPad, you might see Settings > Cellular Data.
3. Go to Settings > FaceTime and make sure that FaceTime is on.
• If you see "Waiting for Activation," turn FaceTime off and then on again. Learn what to do if you can't activate FaceTime.
• If you don't see the FaceTime setting, make sure that Camera and FaceTime aren't off in Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps.
• Make sure that you have the correct phone number or email address listed.
4. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically.
5. Restart your device.

Should that still persist are you unable to open the FaceTime app, do you receive an error message, or do you not get any video during a FaceTime call?

Let us know more details about the particular behavior you are experiencing, and we'll keep moving forward from there.

When I discovered that once I backed up

17.0.3 to icloud you can never go back to a lower ios number such as 16.7,

So I then did visit youtube which wasn’t very helpful, but I did connect my iphone to my Mac computer and Mac did allow me to use some type of a download (I’m skipping a lot of confusing steps here).

My next plan of attack was to make a factory reset like with my old iphone XS.

That didn’t work either. Since iphone 13 pro max doesn't have a factory reset, just an app reset.

So my next plan of attack was to delete actually not delete but offload any app that didn’t come originally with the iphone when I bought it at the store.

This did something what? I’m not sure?

This didn’t fix the phone either, but after attempting several FaceTime calls to a friend, some how it worked?

Turn the Camera on and off, and back on

Turn FaceTime on an off and back on

I never tried the clock thing.

But today the iphone seems to have fixed itself and I can now make FaceTime calls.

Sorry I can’t be more specific about ios 17.0.3 but it seems to be a good ios.
