Brand new iPhone 15 pro - can't set up FaceID

Backed up current iPhone 12 Pro to my MBP.
Restored to brand new iPhone 15 pro.
Running through setup and at the FaceID, I'm asked to put my face in the frame and nothing ever happens. I can't continue.
Restored the iPhone 15 pro to factory settings and set up w/o restoring any data
Running through setup and at the FaceID, I'm asked to put my face in the frame and nothing ever happens. I still can't continue.

Everything I see online is to reset my FaceID but I can't reset it if I can't even set it up in the first place.

If you already tried (to no avail) all the steps provided in these two support articles:--> Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro and/or:--> If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro , since your device is covered by warranty, I suggest that make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.
