have just upgraded from high Sierra to Catalina on my 12 yr old Mac. Had to disable sip to allow the installation which seems to have gone smoothly. Now none of the commands to get into recovery will work so I cant enable sip. Have tried restart, command +r
option+command+ r
In case, when it asks for a password, you do have to type it in and press return. You won't see the letters of the password when you type it in.
Run this command in the Terminal. Once run, it will tell you to restart.
sudo csrutil clear
Just to be clear, running the command in the Terminal then restarting, will re-enable SIP without entering Recovery Mode.
Thanks very much. I did as you suggest but when I press return it asks for a password and shows a box with a key but won’t allow me to enter any script.
You're welcome. I'm not sure what you're seeing. A screen shot might be useful.
Worked out what the key symbol meant and got suggested change done but now have the message: unsupported configuration, likely to break in the future. System software overview says sip is disabled.
I'm really not sure what you did or what your seeing. Perhaps someone else will.
