Hide/move text messages

I see that text messages can’t be moved or hidden. But I saw my wife, she didn’t know, swipe left or right on specific text messages and then hit edit button and they disappeared. There must be a way to do this.

Messages leaving open a certain person Okay so say I’m texting with someone and I accidentally close my phone or the app or switch over to something else real quick if I don’t click the back button and completely go back to my full list of messages vs a specific thread next time I open my messages that persons conversation is open. Now this might be great for some people but one you have to make sure you look before you start typing and two then it constantly stays open for that thread unless I delete the conversation completely and if it’s like your spouse child or parent etc maybe u have years of texts and don’t wAnt it deleted. Is there a way to stop this feature or anything I can do? I don’t know why it does this but I personally find it severely annoying and sometimes it won’t close out for a long time other times after a little bit yes texts will go back to normal but I feel you should be able to either turn this on or off or not have it at all.

Deleting text messages to self I use text messaging to save dates of upcoming appointments. I was able to, up to this current week, go back, hold on the message and a list of options would appear. One of the options on this list is “more”. Once you click on more, the option to delete,(trash can image), appears. However, this option is no longer available. As well, swiping to the left does not reveal the red field with trash can image delete option. How can I delete iPhone text messages (iMessages) if these two options are no longer available?

Hi tangodelta1976,

There are a number of functions you can take with iMessages. You can use Unsend and edit messages on iPhone to unsend or edit messages with in a specific timeframe to other users on compatible devices and iOS versions. You can also Block, filter, and report messages on iPhone for items you don't wish to see. In that article you can also learn how to filter messages from unknown senders to view only conversations from people you know. There is no option to hide or move messages.
