could anyone tell me why social media apps such as instagram, snapchat and tiktok take so much space in my storage?

iPhone Storage and Applications Hi everyone. If I look at my iPhone storage, applications always seems to take up a large amount of data. For example Instagram is over 10 GB of data. What does this really mean? If I delete the app and re-install do I lose everyone I'm following? Will deleting the app and re-installing reduce the amount of data? I guess I really don't understand why an app uses so much data? It makes sense with Netflix or Spotify because I have downloaded movies, podcast, music. But Instagram? Synced content? Why does it say my apps are taking up so much storage on my iPhone despite the fact I have very few downloaded apps. like seriously, I don't have several walls of apps, I only have like 12, none of which are games, I have apps like tiktok, YouTube, instagram, discord, and flightradar24 but other then a few smaller apps I don't get why I don't have that much storage, I've offloaded half of my apps but still, just look.
