I installed an esim from Airalo last week in Italy. iMessage was not working predictably in receiving messages. Some came through others not. I couldn’t establish a pattern. When I later reactivated my main Verizon sim then all the messages starting coming as if they were stuck in a queue. Any ideas ? Thank you

After installing the eSIM, did you set up iMessage, as well? Without signing in and setting up the new phone number, then you wouldn't receive incoming iMessages.

You would want to make sure that the phone number reflected that of the eSIM by using these steps:
1. Go to Settings> Messages, then turn on iMessage.
2. To select which of your phone numbers and email addresses you want to use with iMessage, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, then choose from the available options below “You can receive iMessages to and reply from.”
