Transferring music with Apple Music

I recently bought an iPhone 15 and transferred everything onto it from my old iPhone XR. However, a lot of my music and playlists didn’t transfer over. My most up-to-date music was on my iPad, so with the help of Apple support I was able to transfer my music from my iPad to my MacBook Pro running OS Monterey, and then from the MacBook Pro to my iPhone 15. The problem is, when my music from my iPad was transferred over to my MacBook, it did not include the playlists. Now I have to create new ones on my iPhone 15. It’s a long process.

Is it possible to connect my iPad to my MacBook and just transfer the playlists on my iPad to my MacBook and then to my iPhone 15?

I had the same problem and found the fix was to enable syncing my music library on my 15. Settings > music > sync library.

I can’t say if Apple Music (which I have) is required for the feature and don’t know why this wasn’t already enabled.

Thanks for your help. I’m not an Apple Music subscriber therefore when I go into Music in Settings, I don’t see the Sync Library command. Even if I joined and saw the command, it might only allow me to sync the songs that I bought directly from Apple.
