SG*OriginalPlus subscription charge? - Apple Pay Wallet

I received an emailed receipt for £29.99 from SG Original Plus for a subscription i never ordered. my current account was debited £29.99. the transaction appears in my apple pay wallet but I have no idea how it happened. Does anyone have any suggestions? Somehow, this company had my email address, and the receipt they sent me by email specified that I had purchased a subscription for one month - with a start and end date. I have no idea where this all came from. I didn't seek out this company - I have no interest or knowledge in or of them, and I never gave any personal details to them at all - or purchase instructions. However, according to the payment history in my Apple Wallet, I payed £29.99 to them at 12.59 on 5th Oct but I wasn't even using my phone at this time. What is going on?

In the UK, we have received an email thanking us for subscribing to something called OriginalPlus.

Reviewing the banking information (without clicking on anything within the email), it shows a pending transaction for £29.99. The prefix to this was SG.

We have contacted the bank to cancel this and any future payments.

However, somehow access to our details were gained!

This has happened to me today. I downloaded the Apcoa parking app last week, linked it to my Apple Pay and the discovered 50p was taken from my account. Initially thinking this was connected to paying for parking I didn’t give it much more thought until today when SG Original plus have taken £29.99 for a subscription to god knows what that I never wanted. A quick search for this company unveils hundreds of people have been scammed the same way, usually by downloading an app for things such as parking or restaurants eg. They have a trust pilot score of 1 and that’s because people can’t score 0!!

I managed to figure out what happened to me…. Whilst my mother in law was on her last in hospital, I was desperately trying to pay for parking at the hospital via the internet. A window must have popped up, I filled in my details thinking it was for the parking but no…… it was SG Original site. My fault?? Not concentrating?? The transition from one site to another was so quick, being late at night, in a rush easy mistake. BUT it shouldn’t have happened, how can you go from a parking site to a subscription to a film site ( what ever they do). How many more people have fallen foul to this practice and not noticed the transactions from their accounts. It’s disgraceful in my opinion.

Well, JimT has confirmed what I heard, and that is that there was some link to the Ringo parking app. I originally typed that in my reply above, but deleted it as I wasn't sure if this was entirely accurate. I've used Ringo previously and had the App installed for a good while, but I did use the app over the past month so perhaps I fell for the same streaming service scam, but I certainly don't remember any pop-up coming up. As an aside, this morning I got an email this morning from SG* saying 'Sorry to see you go' as if I'd willingly signed up for something. I've never seen that before!
