Megalixels IPhone 15 Pro Max

Hi guys

The photos i am taking with iphone 15 pro max with the normal photo mode and on 1x zoom are at 18mp always instead of 24mp why?

also tried to take some x5 zoom photos and the info says they are 9mp instead of the 12. All in normal light conditions

any explain for why i am not getting the most of it or this is normal?

thanks in advance

Hi DragonH,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We would recommend the steps below that can help:

Take Apple ProRAW photos with your iPhone camera

Change Apple ProRAW default resolution and format
On iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, you can set your ProRAW default resolution to 12 MP, 48 MP, or HEIF 48 MP.
1. Go to Settings  > Camera > Formats.
2. Turn on ProRAW & Resolution Control.
3. Tap Pro Default, then choose HEIF Max, ProRAW 12 MP, or ProRAW Max as your default resolution and format.
Note: If you’ve chosen Most Compatible as your Camera Capture setting, JPEG Max is used instead of HEIF Max.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.
