G'day mjz1,
Thanks for confirming. Do you have any profiles or Mobile Device Management on your iPhone? These might force changes to certain settings. You can check by tapping Settings > General > VPN & Device Management: Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone - Apple Support
If you don't have any profiles, you might want to try resetting your network settings next by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This step is mentioned in the related article you checked out previously and we want to be sure you tried this specific step: If your iPhone or iPad won't connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support
"This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before."
After you reset your network settings, re-join the network and toggle Auto-Join on to see if that helps.
Take care.

Hi mjz1,
We see your iPhone is not auto-joining a network and you already checked out steps for If your iPhone or iPad won't connect to a Wi-Fi network.
To make sure we're on the same page, you have Auto-Join on under Settings > Wi-Fi > [network name], but it seems to turn off at some point. Is that right?
Does this happen with more than one network?
Also, are you able to manually join the network?
The best steps will depend on the answers to the above, but as a start, make sure you're using the latest iOS for your device (iOS 17.0.3). Also, back up before updating to ensure your data is preserved: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
Best wishes.
Hello mjz1,
Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.
Just to confirm, is your phone completely up to date? If you're unsure, you can go to Settings > General > Software update. If there is an update here, you will want to go ahead and complete the update. This ensures you have the most up to date security patches and bug fixes. You can do that following the steps here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
Also, if you have not yet, you will want to restart the iPhone. This allows the software to shutdown correctly and clear the app state of all software. This allows it to start up fresh and can resolve many issues. You can follow the steps here to do that: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
Kindest regards.
mjz1,
Yes, resetting network settings will delete stored networks and their passwords so make sure that you have those handy to re-enter.
If you continue to have the same issue after resetting network settings, reach out to Apple Support for further assistance from Get Support.
Have a great day!
Hi ryane77,
Thank you for responding, I answer your questions below.
"To make sure we're on the same page, you have Auto-Join on under Settings > Wi-Fi > [network name], but it seems to turn off at some point. Is that right?"
Yes that is right
"Does this happen with more than one network?"
I don't know, I haven't been in the area of the only other auto join networks set up as of recently, and I noticed this happening recently. almost seemingly since the last iPhone update. coincidentally, since the last two update, I've also lost my text tones previously purchased in my queue, but that's another conversation.
"Also, are you able to manually join the network?"
Yes I am. I turn auto join back on as I join but at some point, it turns off.
Yes, it had a second update just a few days ago, but it updated a week or so ago and I noticed my text tones moved into the ring tone Que.. currently its 17.0.3 version
Ok, will that delete stored wifi's and passwords or just erase them all? I did delete "Forget this Network" and reinstalled it for the one I know I'm having troubles with and that did nothing.
