password needed for preview to print
I can't print PDF files all of a sudden. I did not put in a password and yet it is asking for one

Can you fill us on what you're seeing exactly?
If you're referring to a password for a locked PDF, you'd need to enter that. If you're not sure what the password is and it's a document someone else created, you'd need to contact them for information about the password: Password-protect a PDF in Preview on Mac - Apple Support
On the other hand, if it's asking you to enter an account name and password, you'd usually need to enter the full username and password for an administrator account on the Mac.
If that doesn't cover what's happening, please reply back with more detail.
