If you've attempted to reset your watch multiple times and still encounter issues with updating it while receiving an error message stating it's not connected to the internet, there could be several reasons behind this problem. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Check Phone-Internet Connection:
    • Ensure that your smartphone is connected to a stable and active internet connection. Without a reliable internet connection on your phone, it won't be able to communicate with the watch to perform the update.
  1. Bluetooth Connection:
    • Verify that your smartphone is connected to your watch via Bluetooth. The watch relies on the Bluetooth connection to communicate with your phone for updates.
  1. Phone Compatibility:
    • Ensure that your watch and smartphone are compatible with each other in terms of software versions and compatibility requirements. Some watches may not update if they are not compatible with the specific phone model or operating system version.
  1. Watch Battery:
    • Make sure your watch has sufficient battery life to complete the update process. Sometimes, updates require a certain level of battery power, and the watch may not update if the battery is too low.
  1. Check for Updates Manually:
    • Instead of relying on automatic updates, try checking for updates manually. On your smartphone, go to the watch's settings or companion app and look for a "Check for Updates" or similar option.
  1. Factory Reset:
    • As a last resort, you may need to perform a factory reset on both your watch and smartphone. This will erase all data on your watch, so ensure you have backups if needed. After resetting both devices, try setting up the connection again and check for updates.
  1. Contact Support:
    • If the issue persists despite trying the above steps, it's advisable to contact the customer support of the watch manufacturer or your smartphone's customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide specific solutions or guide you through the troubleshooting process.

Remember to follow the instructions provided by the watch manufacturer and your smartphone's operating system for updates carefully. If the problem is related to compatibility or a known issue with either device, they should be able to provide guidance on resolving the issue.

The internet connection required is for the host iPhone to be connected using a regular WiFi. It needs to be domestic (home or office grade) WiFi from broadband, cable, etc, Not hotspot from another iPhone or iPad, and not the kind commonly found in hotels and libraries or public WiFi with a web landing and permissions page and usually horrible data speeds)

As LD150 says, also disable any VPN functions because they can interfere.
