Hotmail email password keeps dropping on iPhone and iPad (iOS 17.03)

Occasionally iPhone just decides my valid password suddenly isn't accepted and I need to re-add it. I keep typing in the correct password and it's says Password Incorrect. With prior iPhone and iOS, this happens every few months. ONLY WITH APPLE. Any advice?

It is hotmail that is validating your password not Apple. you can ask Microsoft support why or look at their help forum https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus

I totally agree. All my devices are apple (MacBook Pro, iPhone & iPad).


My hotmail account periodically (no consistency as to how often) fails to authenticate in mail on my MacBook pro. Re enter the password (which is correct and confirmed by logging into the webmail via safari) and it is still rejected. I need to delete the account and start again.


Sometimes I have to do this daily for a short period, then its fine for months.


I can only recall having to do this on my iPhone or iPad maybe 2 or 3 times in total.

And? is that what Microsoft support told you?

apple doesn't need your password to hotmail, it isn't their mail, if it was icloud then yes it would be an Apple issue.

You can tell Microsoft what your experience is when you contact them.

And there it is. I could sense it in your words in your tone, but you finally came out and said it you’re one of those hyper defensive Apple loyalists that can’t stand criticism. I’ve had an iPhone since the iPhone was invented and I’m everything Apple, but I shouldn’t have to defend myself or my valid comments to someone like yourself that’s just a hyper over defensive person. Apple support is a whole lot better and easier to get help with than Microsoft. I would reach out to Microsoft if I knew it wasn’t limited Apple based on my conversations with people over the years and yes, I was looking for help and you clearly couldn’t provide it so just be on your way

Several people have tried to blame it on a Microsoft software for the glitch, being unwilling to concede that it’s an Apple issue. I have proof it’s entirely an apple issue. If anyone questions, they’re welcome to reach out. Btw just upgraded to 17.3 today and it’s at it again now telling me my Microsoft exchange password is wrong … when it’s not. Even the Microsoft Outlook iPhone app has no issues. It only happens on the Apple Mail client.

Has this been fixed/solved yet? It’s started to happen to me - started 3 weeks ago.


constantly asks for my password to be inputted and then tells me the password is incorrect. Seems to only occur with Hotmail not my outlook email.


also using the web is fine. Using the outlook app is fine. Using in on my outlook desktop app is fine. Seems to only be a problem from my iPhone 15 pro


its darn annoying nd I’ve done what I could find such as reset network settings. Delete the account and set it up again. Problem comes back. Sometimes just pressing cancel several times fixes it for about a few days then problem comes back again


any help/solution would be much appreciated.
