Listing emails alphabetically

How do I list emails alphabetically. It used to be possible but the option appears to have vanished. Is it possible if so what do I have to do to restore the function?

Thanks all.

Thanks for the reply. Just found out that Veiw - sort by - name. It does exactly what I want. It used to be an option where the filter button is now.

You can manually drag them in any order in the "On My Mac" section

Hey Andrew ,

My answer is no … I've been using Apple mail since 2007 and haven't noticed any preferences like you're describing , whether it's the messages or the mailboxes .

Maybe you could do something with that in preferences > rules , check out the conditions and actions , you may discover a way to have them work for your purpose .
