Greetings osnapitzmarisa,

We can understand the importance of getting Face ID working on your new iPhone 14 Pro Max.

To be sure, are you on a beta version of the iOS software or is that a typo? We want to make sure because the answers can vary. The latest version of iOS is 17.0.3. If your iPhone is on a beta version of the iOS 17, you'll want to report this issue in the Feedback Assistant app or you have the option of uninstalling iOS beta: How to uninstall iOS or iPadOS beta software - Apple Support.

If the IPhone is on iOS 17.0.3, you can try the following steps:

    1. Go to Settings, then tap Face ID & Passcode. Make sure that Face ID is enabled and set up correctly for the features you want to use.
    2. Make sure nothing is covering the TrueDepth camera. If you have a case, cover, or screen protector, try to remove that to see if this helps to resolve the issue.
    3. Make sure that your face is not blocked or covered in any way. This can affect the way the camera is able to detect your face.
    4. Make sure you're facing the TrueDepth camera. Face ID works in portrait and landscape orientation for your iPhone 14.
    5. Power cycle the iPhone with these instructions: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support. While simple, this can refresh the iOS, apps and connections.
    6. Add an alternate appearance for Face ID.
    7. As a final option, try to reset Face ID on your iPhone. To do so, go to Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode, then tap Reset Face ID. Then set up Face ID again following these steps: Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support.

You can see all above steps listed here: If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support. If you have completed all these steps and still have the issue, you'll want to get back in touch with Apple Support directly. You can reach out to them by clicking here: Get Support or over the phone by calling the number that is most local to your region: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support.

We hope this information helps you out.

Kind regards!
