why did my battery suddenly stop working?
I bought this iphone at an apple store, i have nover done any repairs to it but it says that the battery might not be a genuine part. Now, it doesnt charge and i am completely unable to use it.

From your description it sounds like the battery might have failed. You don't say which model of iPhone, or how old it is so we can't guess any warranty status but Apple can check that - hopefully you still have the purchase paperwork.
To resolve the problem I suggest contact Apple Support, arrange to get your iPhone in for inspection and repair. They should be able to give you all details when you arrange the service.
