returning email won't let me type

When I click reply to an email all the words run together. When I use the space bar the email defaults to the original body of the email.

We called apple support and Dallas was able to show us how to fix it. The email that we were trying to reply to had some graphics package. The fix was to go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Others > Extensions.

We turned off Markup in Actions and Photo Editing. That fixed the problem.

To clarify: When I try to forward an email, and I begin to type into the body of the reply: I can type alphanumeric characters, but not a space typed from the space bar.

When I do that, the email goes into some sort of edit mode. A rectangle appears in the body of the original email and I get a prompt that says Markup, More, Remove Background with associated icons.

I have done several Restarts and the problem does not go away.

Has anyone ever seen this?

Thanks!
