When I start spotify on my IPhone 13 and listen thru my airpods, I can see the play and stop buttons on both devices. I can control from both. If I press pause on apple watch, it pauses on both.
Is there a way to play it only one device at a time?

The solution was provided by Eric_G1.
It is how you do it.
"It sounds like you may be referring to the Auto-Launch Audio Apps feature.
This feature can be disabled in the iPhone's Watch app > General > Auto-Launch > Toggle off Auto-Launch Audio Apps."

What happens if you start listening from the Watch?
Hi,
It still starts up on my iPhone also .
If I stop on one, it stops on the other.
If I start on one, it starts up on the other one.
thanks.
Well, you could contact Spotify to see if they can help.
I'm curious as to why this is a problem. Is there something you're trying to accomplish that requires it only play on one device at a time?
spotify on both apple watch and Iphone 13 at the same?
