Do I have to pay for the sipping if I trade in my iPhone?

The last time I traded a device when purchasing a new device online from the Apple Store, Apple sent me a return box and a prepaid shipping label. That arrived 2 or 3 days after my new device.

The last time I traded an iPhone for an Apple Gift Card, Apple sent me an email with information (and QR code) and instructions to take it to FedEx. They boxed the return and shipped it with no charge to me.

Are you returning or trading-in? Trade-ins you will receive a box with a prepaid label or you will be emailed a prepaid label. If returning a recently purchased device it is usually free return shipping but when you’re setting up your return case you will be advised what to do and if it’s free.
