Battery Drain Overnight - iPhone14

I forgot to charge my iPhone14 (only 5 months old) overnight last night and I woke up to a significant battery decrease of about 40%. It went from 50% battery to 10% in a matter of about 7 hours. There were not any apps open in the background, Bluetooth was off, app refresh is off, and I only do manual updates. I did have about 6 app updates that I did before I went to sleep, but I feel like that shouldn't have affected anything as they were all done updating while I was still in my phone.

There are always apps and processes in background, whether you can see them or not. And killing apps from the App Switcher does not guarantee that they won’t run if they receive a notifications. And, in fact, it’s a bad idea to kill apps indiscriminately; you should only kill an app that isn’t working correctly. 40% is a bit high; typically if you don’t charge overnight it might lose 15%. But if you receive email and texts overnight, or you have just updated an iOS version and the new version has “housekeeping” updates related to the new version it can be higher. One sample point isn’t enough to draw any meaningful conclusions.
