I lost one of my earbuds. Does this mean I can’t use the other? It does not connect anymore.

The text below from the resource titled If your AirPods or AirPods Pro won't connect may explain what's happening:

"2) Put both AirPods in the charging case and make sure that both AirPods are charging."

Based on this step from the resource, it does appear you would need both AirPods in order to connect.
