Anyone else had a digital card redeemed fraudulently?

Bought a Mac in July 2023 and it came with a$200 promotional gift card which was emailed to me. I went to use it today (October 2023) and discover it has been redeemed - bot not by me! After talking to 6 different people at Apple, I was basically told, "Too bad, so sad." They say it must have been pulled off my computer email (I work in finance and it is as secure as it can be) and that the card isn't tied to my apple id at all. They can see which apple id redeemed it, where, and for what but won't tell me any of that as they need to protect that person's privacy! I would appreciate any ideas on how to resolve this. It's pretty shocking that apple would have such a loose process given how secure most everything else they do is.
