Today View - Difference between "+" and "Customize >"

Hi!

I was editing the Today View and noticed that there are two ways to add widgets: the "+" button on the top left corner and the "Customize >" button at the bottom.

They behave in different ways and for one of my apps, the "Customize" options gives me some additional (classic) widgets.

Does anybody know what the difference is?

Best,

Thanks, Gena.

I found out that since iOS 14 this was introduced. The “+” is the new/current way to add widgets, but Apple kept the “Customize >”, where old, not yet updated widgets can still be added.

Hello Peter,

This article explains more about adding widgets to your iPhone: How to add and edit widgets on your iPhone - Apple Support. Adding widgets to your Home Screen uses the + symbol (as well as adding Smart Stacks and to the Today view); adding widgets to your Lock Screen uses the Customize option.

We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.
