Control center on Apple watch

I am not able to swipe up to find the control center on my Apple Watch. I just paired it with my new Apple 15 plus phone but I still can’t access the control center. I tried powering it down and reset with the Apple logo but that did not work. Any other suggestions?

With watchOS 10 you now access Control Center by tapping the side button.

Press the side button

Press to show or hide Control Center.
Press and hold to use Emergency SOS.
Double-click to use Apple Pay.
Press and hold to turn your watch on or off.
