I've been using my iPad for several months with my gmail account set up just fine. Today, I have a message that my user name or password for "imap.gmail.com" is incorrect. I have not changed anything since I last accessed this email. I'm not very technical, hoping someone on the forum can make a recommendation. I have deleted the account and reinstalled it, didn't work. I deleted account, rebooted iPad, reinstalled, didn't work. Under the advanced setting the "use SSL" is set to on, Authentication is set to password, where it says IMAP Path Prefix there is just a slash "/" and the server port is set to 993. Any advice? And one more thing, I did verify my password by logging into gmail just fine on my MacBook Pro so I know it works. Thanks in advance!

    Why don't you delete the account again, and use this link to walk you through setting up your account:

    Also, don't delete accounts if you're having an error. Sometimes it's just an IMAP server issue that will resolve itself. Unless something mysterious happens, which is extremely rare, your iPad doesn't go from working with an IMAP account to not working.

    Let's see if this works. If you continue to have issues, just post back here, and I or someone else will help out.

    Thank you for your reply. I did research and found the same information on the gmail site. Setting up the account is easy, I'm just frustrated as to why I know get a message that either my user name or password is incorrect when I haven't changed anything. Do you suggest I just wait and see if it comes back?

    i'm having the same problem. i went to the apple store today and they erased and restored the ipad. i went home and sync'd the ipad as a new device. it worked for a little while, but now it doesn't work again. the tech guy thought maybe something in my sync is the problem. i don't know how to fix it. let me know if you get any good ideas.

    Hi I went to the genuis bar we reset my password in gmail from another computer and reinstalled on iPad. Seems to be working fine now. Good luck.

    I'm having the same issue, I can sign in on the web but can't get it to "push trough" to my iPad. Brand new just got it. Any ideas?
