Searching Support gives zip info for Freeform; is it possibly connected to some other app guide? I really like using it for class notes, attaching shots of slides, etc. to make more use of it

I have yet to find an actual Freeform guide. These videos that folks have linked do not comprise a full guide.
Where is something that explains the interface? What are the various select tools and what do they do?
I am still looking for something that will give the basics.
Example, what is the Apple Pencil tool for? When I use it, it seems to make a lasso, nut how do I remove the selected area?
In the pic below, I just want the plant without backgtound.

It depends on your definition of a full guide. Apple is out of the exhaustive PDF user guide writing business and an online users guide or videos are all you can expect now in the form of documentation from Apple. A google search may dig up additional help.
