A 3rd generation iPod can only update to 4.2.1

A 4th generation iPod can only update to 6.1.6

A 5th generation iPod can only update to 9.3.5

Currently a 6th generation iPod can only update to 12.5.7

Currently a 7th generation iPod can only update to 15.7.9

No iPod will ever be able to update beyond iOS 15
