How do I turn off the “feature” that stops iCloud photo sync for battery life?

I took pictures with my iPhone 15 running iOS 17 then went to edit them with my iPad (current OS). Only one photo was there. When I went to my phone, in Photos, the pictures were their but there was a note on the bottom “iCloud sync is paused for battery.” Battery on phone and iPad are 90% or more.

Never had this on previous iOS versions and I don’t like it. The LAST thing I want is for photos or data to stop syncing unless I’m in low battery mode. Low Battery Mode is turned off.

How do I ensure iCloud sync happens regardless of battery level? I only charge my iPhone at night unless it’s dying for some reason. I’ve checked the settings for Battery, Cellular (though I was on wifi at the time), iCloud, Photos, and Camera.

Hi CountryMama,

To help troubleshoot the unexpected behavior, test after restarting your iPad, as that can clear up a multitude of issues. Check out those steps here: Restart your iPad - Apple Support

How to restart an iPad without a Home button
1. Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.
3. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
4. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo.

If the issue persists, then reach out to Apple Support directly to help investigate the behavior, as they'll be best equipped to assist. You can use the following link to reach out: Apple Support
