Sync this iPhone disabled. Removed photos from iPhone. 1/3 of photos still there.

iOS 17.0.3

iPhone 14 Pro

Sorry if this has been answered before, although I have done a lot of research within the community. I simply want to remove the photos from my iPhone, and still save them in iCloud. I understand the process is as simple as disabling the syncing of photos to iCloud and when prompted you click remove from iPhone, knowing that the photos will still save in iCloud. I have about 7000 photos. Yet when syncing it drops down to about 3000 and stops there. Is there something else I should know because I can’t make it go past this point?

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17

Hello randygordonramirez,

This page can help out with providing details on how to delete photos off of the iPhone: Delete photos on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Be sure to double-check that iCloud Photos is disabled prior so that it doesn't also remove them from iCloud as well (Settings > Photos > iCloud Photos).

1. Open Photos.
2. From the Library tab, tap All Photos, then tap Select.
3. Tap multiple photos, or slide your finger across multiple photos to select more than one.
4. Tap the Trash button , then confirm to delete the items

After deleting photos, you may check the iCloud website to ensure all of the desired ones are still present there: iCloud

Cheers.
