In fact, your MacBook Pro 2019 can run the newest, latest release of macOS 14 Sonoma.
➡️ macOS 14 Sonoma is compatible with the Macs listed here
However, I would advise that you hold off upgrading to Sonoma because it is so newly released.
Instead, if you intend to upgrade, I suggest you go to macOS 13 Ventura. It has been out for a year and has received feedback and several point update improvements.
➡️ macOS 13 Ventura is compatible with the Macs listed here
❗️ Do NOT upgrade
…until you have made a Time Machine or other backup of your startup drive.

Thank you so much for the reply. My MacBook Pro (2019) is running Catalina 10.15.7...I will check the links you provided to see what is available to me. I have been hesitant to upgrade without some input.
I so appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Fortunately my Time Machine is set to Back Up automatically and I will definitely make sure to do a full back up before upgrading.
I am hesitant to do it on my own so will seek out assistance before moving ahead.
The fact that you are actively using Time Machine puts you ahead of the curve for this upgrade.
I'm sure you'll do fine when you finally feel comfortable enough to take action.
Good luck! 🍀
And of course, reach back to the community with any other questions you have.
Many Thanks!
You’re welcome. 🙂
