If you're looking for an adapter to connect a USB 3.0 (or faster) device, check the adapter's speed. Some adapters only support USB 2.0 speeds – the two "plug-type" adapters to which kaz-k linked being examples.


If the device that you are connecting is an Apple USB SuperDrive, you might want to use the Apple adapter, as that drive seems to be a bit picky about the way it draws power from the host.
