[iPhone15] Reverse charging not working

When I connect any power consuming device like an audio interface, another (Android) smartphone or a cheap bluetooth speaker due an USB-C to USB-A adapter the iPhone does not deliver any power output.

Also I don't get any notification that a device was connected or something like that.

I tested the same combination of adapter/cables/device with an USB-C port of a MacBook and confirmed that it's working fine there. So the issue is clearly on the phone side.

Do I have to change any settings to make this work?

I actually feel quite dumb now. The problem was, that the adapter was not fully inserted into the port because of my silicone case. I have to take the phone out of the case then everything works fine.

Hey lodrik256,

"iPhone 15 models have a USB-C connector, which allows you to charge and connect to a variety of devices, including Mac, iPad, AirPods Pro (2nd generation), external storage devices, and displays." For more details, review this article: Charge and connect with the USB-C connector on your iPhone.

"You can use your iPhone to charge your AirPods, Apple Watch, or another small device that supports USB Power Delivery at up to 4.5 watts." For more details, review the section labeled "Charge other devices with your iPhone 15. The section labeled "Connect to other devices" provides examples of devices that are compliant with the USB-C standard. The list doesn't include other smartphones or Bluetooth speakers.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Hi Sheere,

thanks for your answer.

This list you mentioned includes e.g. "External storage devices". So i tried to connect my usb stick to the phone but still no power output. The problem is not only that the phone does not recognize the new device, not even the led of the stick is flashing. So the phone does not even recognize there was a try to connect something because there is simply coming no power out of the usb c port. I cannot believe that a over 1000$ phone is not able do that, even my super cheap 5 year old android phone was capable of that.

Can anyone with an USB-C-to-A adapter or c able confirm that this not working in general?
