intermittent apple mail timeouts

The Apple Mail program is throwing this error: "Connections to the server “p60-imap.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out."

I have changed no settings. I am running OS 12.0.1.

What is causing this?

Mail keeps giving me this error Connections to the server “p72-imap.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out. Ever since the update I have been getting this error on my MacBook Pro, OS Ventura 13.1. I have restarted my modem and router. Restarted my computer and no matter what I do, after a few minutes I continually get this error. There is a small triangle with an exclamation point inside. How to fix: Connections to the server “p71-imap.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out? OS system upgrade seems to have caused an email glitch for my iCloud email address. I can receive email in the internet iCloud and on my phone, but my computer can't hold the connection. Any ideas about how to get Mail back to normal would be appreciated!

That's a server error message; not a local mail issue. As such the server operator is responsible for the fix if one is needed; It might be little more than heavy traffic.
